The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has launched a pod hotel at New Delhi Metro Station, providing travelers with short-term accommodation options while they wait for their connecting trains or flights. This new facility aims to cater to passengers in transit who may need a place to rest before continuing their journey.
Located at one of the busiest transit hubs in the capital, which serves as an interchange for the Yellow Line and Airport Express Line, the pod hotel occupies a portion of the 3,000-square-metre commercial space within the station. The rest of the space has been allocated for various commercial purposes.
This initiative is part of DMRC’s strategy to generate non-fare revenue and reduce reliance on ticket prices. Over the years, Delhi Metro has focused on developing commercial properties across several stations, including retail outlets, food courts, and office spaces. Similar projects have already been implemented at stations like Punjabi Bagh, Malviya Nagar, Azadpur, and Faridabad Sector 20B.
The introduction of the pod hotel is expected to enhance the convenience of passengers and add to the growing trend of innovative transport solutions in major cities around the world.
