A 120-room floating hotel could be docked in Cardiff Bay by 2027, according to a proposal by developers.
Finnish company Meyer Floating Solutions and the UK’s Morfield Floating Hotels have revealed plans for the boutique hotel, which would be located at a dedicated berth in Roath Basin, close to the iconic Norwegian Church.
John Moore, Meyer’s agent, explained that the new 15,000-seat arena being built in Cardiff Bay means there is space for an additional hotel. “We’re able to deliver these hotels in about 16 months,” he said, noting the project would also create up to 35 permanent jobs.
While floating hotels already exist in London and Edinburgh, this would be Cardiff’s first. Moore described the project as “unique” and “different,” emphasizing that the appeal of staying on the water would be the main draw for visitors.
