According to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, spending on domestic accommodations surpassed pre-pandemic levels in 2022, and reached record highs in both 2023 and 2024.
Amid this surge in demand, the number of hotel establishments across the nation continued to grow. Although the industry faced steep revenue losses during the pandemic, the total number of hotels remained relatively stable. Since then, hotel development has ramped up, with thousands of new properties opening in cities large and small.
This analysis by Luxury Link, a luxury hotel booking platform, highlights the states and cities that have seen the most new hotel openings since 2019, showcasing the areas with the most significant sector growth. For travelers, these destinations may offer some of the best options for newly built or recently opened places to stay.
